Yankees Pass on Andrus

The Yankees will not be trading for Elvis Andrus. This morning they did a deal with the Diamondbacks to acquire shortstop Didi Gregorious. Gregorious was in Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects after the 2012 season and was a full-time starter in 2013, but he ceded playing time to fellow prospect Chris Owings last season.

The 24-year-old former has an uninspiring career triple slash of .243/.313/.366 and grades out as an average defender. The price was cheaper than Andrus would have been. New York only gives up pitcher Shane Greene.
