Errors, Holland, Keep Rangers From Keeping Pace With A’s

The Texas Rangers committed four errors and got another sub-par performance from starter Derek Holland in an 8-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Angel Stadium.

Holland, who is winless in a season-high six consecutive starts, gave up eight runs, four of them earned, on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. Holland was hampered by two Rangers errors in the first inning, which paved the way for three Angels runs, from which Anaheim did not look back.

The Rangers are now 1 1/2 games behind the Oakland A's in the AL West. The Rangers are 1-4 on their current six-game West Coach road swing, and have lost three games in a row for the first time since July 25-28.

Nick Tepesch takes the mound for the Rangers in the season finale this afternoon, opposite Jason Vargas for the Angels. Game time is set for 2:35 Dallas time, on Fox Sports Southwest.
