The Texas Rangers made several roster moves before their game on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
They have placed lefthanded reliever Michael Kirkman on the 15-day disabled list due to a recurrence of a cutaneous lymphoma (skin cancer) on his right biceps. They have also placed righthander Alexi Ogando back on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.
To replace Kirkman on the roster, the team purchased the contract of non-roster righthander Kyle McClellan from Class AAA Round Rock. McClellan has only been in action for three weeks, after a strained latisimus muscle shortened his training camp activity.
To make room for McClellan on the roster, the team moved reliever Joakim Soria from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. The move does not practically delay Soria's return to the ballclub, as the time on the 15-day DL counts toward his 60-day DL time.
In Ogando's spot, the Rangers recalled righthander Josh Lindblom from Round Rock to make tomorrow's start at home against Cleveland, assuming he does not pitch today against Toronto.
