A bevy of sources are all reporting that Jeff Banister has been named the next manager of the Rangers. The 49-year-old has 20 years of coaching experience, all of them coming in the Pirates organization. He most recently served as bench coach for former Rangers hitting coach Clint Hurdle. He was a finalist when the Pirates hired Hurdle before the 2011 season and was also one of the last 3 candidates for the Astros job.
