Tuesday morning, Norm and Donovan teed off discussing the Dallas Cowboys. After a 13-3 season that ended in heartbreak in their own backyard, the Cowboys are gearing up for another season with Dak Prescott at the helm, but the retirement of Tony Romo has raised concern for Norm and Donovan. Last season, the team had two competent backup quarterbacks in Romo and Kellen Moore, but this year, Moore is the lone reserve.
Norm then shared a story about Dave Manders, a former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman and linebacker. Norm recalled his first days on the job was a sports talk show host, in which he repeatedly entered the Cowboys’ locker room for interviews. He shared Manders’ unwavering cooperation, warmth, and thorough answers to questions of all kinds. Norm shared the details of Manders’ career, highlighted by his Super Bowl ring he captured in Super Bowl VI. Norm recently ran into Manders’ and caught up with him at a movie theatre.
Norm pointed out Tex Schramm’s desire to pay Manders $35,000 at one point in his career. Manders would only agree to the deal if $3000 were donated to charities of his choice.
