Thursday morning, Norm and Donovan kicked off the day discussing the Mavericks’ possible free agent targets for the upcoming free agent period. With the news circulating about the Mavs’ interest in both Jrue and Justin Holiday, Norm and Donovan discussed the potential effects of signing one or both of the Holiday brothers on the upcoming draft. Donovan gave his opinion stating that he wants the Mavs to simply take the best available player in the upcoming draft rather than take a player to simply fill an immediate need. Norm and Donovan spoke of the “10 man draft” which has been reported by multiple outlets. Dallas is currently sitting in the number nine spot in this year’s draft, and owner Mark Cuban has called this draft a “10 man draft” with ten prospects being scouted by the Mavs.

Norm and Donovan then discussed the remaining options for the Cowboys this offseason. For the first time in years, the Cowboys have some cap space and are currently sitting 17 million dollars under the cap. Norm and Donovan debated over which way to spend this remaining money with the team firmly in position to contend for a Super Bowl this season. Norm and Donovan agreed on the idea that the team should be looking for a backup quarterback, possibly Colin Kaepernick.

Norm and Donovan proceeded to talk about the new ESPN 30 for 30 series talking about the Celtics-Lakers rivalry from the ‘80s. The dominance of those two teams brought back many memories for Norm and Donovan, watching the Mavs trying to take down those two super-powers. Donovan spoke of the dirty nature that the game used to have, specifically pointing out Kevin McHale’s infamous close line of Lakers forward Kurt Rambis, and how that was only called a common foul. In today’s game, the foul would have been an immediate flagrant two and an ejection, with a suspension tacked on.
