It’s just about that time again, my dudes. South by South West – aka SXSW – also known as South by South West. It’s quite literally my favorite time of year. The only time of year when I allow myself to subsist only on free BBQ, Lone Star and Topo Chico. As someone who lives for music discovery, SXSW is like indie xmas to me. After trending towards larger acts and bigger spectacles the past few years (RIP Doritos stage), it seems that a renewed focus on smaller bands and music discovery is here once again. And since that’s what The Local Ticket is all about, here is a playlist full of hours of new bands I plan on checking out while I’m down there.
Be sure to follow my adventures at SXSW 2018 on Instagram and Twitter! And here are a few that you might have already heard on The Local Ticket:
Durand Jones & The Indications – Powerful soul music from Indiana.
Hop Along – Emotional, indie folk rock from Philadelphia.
Curtis Roush – West Coast 70s album rock. (RIYL The War On Drugs)
Post Animal – Catchy-as-hell-psych-rock from Chicago, featuring the guy who played Steve inĀ Stranger Things.
Morgxn – Powerful indie synth-pop.
Adrian Daniel – Neo-soul from Brooklyn.
