Thursday morning, Norm and Donovan started the discussion with Wimbledon. Now deep into the tournament, the two hosts talked about the stunning lack of representation by Americans in this tournament. The highest ranked American male in this year’s draw is Jack Sock, ranked number 18 in the world, three spots ahead of fellow American John Isner. With few Americans in the top 40, the two discussed how Wimbledon has become less and less of an attraction for Americans.
The discussion shifted towards Yu Darvish, and the debate over whether he is truly a star ace in today’s MLB. Norm and Donovan agreed that Darvish is one of the better pitchers in the game and is being under appreciated throughout the league.
Norm then pointed out that tomorrow, July 7th, is the first anniversary of last summer’s shooting in downtown Dallas that killed five police officers. An iconic photo of James Dylan Smith, an officer on duty that night, surfaced shortly thereafter showing him shielding a pair of Dallas photographers from gunfire. Smith will be on the air with Norm and Donovan tomorrow at 10:30AM.
To close things out, Mark Folowill and Brian Dameris joined the show to discuss NBA free agency. They talked of the developing standoff between the Mavericks and restricted free agent Nerlens Noel. The market for centers in the current NBA has seemingly dried up, leading people to believe that the Mavericks may simply wait for Noel to sign a qualifying offer for one year.
