TWO RANGERS FIND NEW MOUNDS

A COUPLE OF FORMER RANGERS PITCHERS STRIKING DEALS AT THE END OF JANUARY RELIEVER NEAL COTTS AND THE BREWERS AGREE TO A ONE YEAR,  $3 MILLION CONTRACT AND RELIEVER ALEXI OGANDO AND THE RED SOX HAVE REACHED AN AGREEMENT ON A ONE-YEAR DEAL WORTH $1.5 MILLION PLUS INCENTIVES, PENDING A PHYSICAL.  COTTS WAS 2-9 WITH A 4.32 ERA AND 2 SAVES IN 73 RELIEF APPEARANCES FOR THE RANGERS IN 2014. COTTS HAD TOMMY JOHN SURGERY IN JULY 2009 AND DID NOT PITCH IN 2010 AND 2011 BECAUSE OF ARM AND HIP INJURIES.  HE THEN SPENT 2012 IN THE RANGERS MINOR LEAGUE SYSTEM AND MADE HIS DEBUT FOR TEXAS ON MAY 31, 2013.  THE 31-YEAR-OLD OGANDO WAS 2-3 WITH A 6.84 ERA IN 27 RELIEF APPEARANCES FOR THE RANGERS LAST SEASON, MISSING MUCH OF THE YEAR DUE TO AN INJURED RIGHT ELBOW.  THE FORMER ALL-STAR CAN BE USED AS BOTH A STARTER AND CLOSER.  THROUGH 48 STARTS, OGANDO IS 19-12 WITH A 3.40 ERA.  OGANDO IS 9-4 WITH A 3.25 ERA IN 135 GAMES OUT OF THE BULLPEN.  THE ONCE-PROMISING RIGHTY WAS NON-TENDERED BY THE RANGERS IN DECEMBER 2014.
