Mavericks take back end of home-and-home against Nuggets, 97-89

After sitting three of their starters in a loss at Denver Wednesday night, the Mavericks got a measure of revenge in taking a 97-89 win at the American Airlines Center Friday night.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 25 points, including the first 10 points of the game for the Mavericks. Rajan Rondo, playing with a sore Achilles tendon, scored only 2 points, but had eight assists and nine boards. Tyson Chandler tallied a double-double, with 11 points and 16 rebounds. All three players sat out the Wednesday game at the behest of coach Rick Carlisle.

The Mavericks are now 28-13 at the halfway point of the NBA season, and in fifth place in the Western Conference. Dallas is off until Monday night, when they travel to Memphis to take on the Southwest Division-leading Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum.
