Reports started to surface on New Years Day that Chip Kelly might soon be on the move out of Philadelphia. The day earlier then-GM Howie Roseman had fired Vice President of Player Personnel Tom Gamble, thought to be a close ally of Chip Kelly. Owner Jeff Lurie is trying to put out any potential flames, he announced Friday night that Chip Kelly will oversee all player personnel matters and Howie Roseman has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Football Operations. Should this not satisfy Kelly, he could become the third headcoach to leave his post due to issues with management this offseason. Earlier in the week Jim Harbaugh left the 49ers for Michigan, while Doug Marrone exercised a clause in his deal to leave Buffalo.
