Rangers Radar Losing Outfield Candidates

The San Diego Padres have won the sweepstakes for left fielder Justin Upton. The Braves sent Upton along with Aaron Northcraft to California in exchange for minor league lefty Max Fried, infielders Dustin Peterson and Jace Peterson, outfielder Mallex Smith and an international bonus compensation.

With the move Upton is abruptly off of the Rangers radar as the team continues its search for a veteran corner outfielder. RF Alex Rios made his move to Kansas City official yesterday, and the team has said the rumor of a Josh Hamilton return to Arlington is out of the question.

The Rangers have $10-$12 million in financial flexibility to fill the hole in the outfield.
