AP TURNS HIMSELF IN TO AUTHORITIES

VIKINGS RUNNING BACK ADRIAN PETERSON HAS BEEN BOOKED AND RELEASED ON $15,000 BOND FROM A MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX JAIL ON A CHARGE ALLEGING HE SPANKED ONE OF HIS SONS WITH A WOODEN SWITCH.  THE INDICTMENT STATES ON OR ABOUT MAY 18TH PETERSON DID RECKLESSLY OR BY CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE CAUSE BODILY INJURY TO A CHILD 14 YEARS OF AGE OR YOUNGER BY STRIKING WITH A BRANCH. PETERSON'S ATTORNEY RUSTY HARDIN SAID IN A STATEMENT "He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas, Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning."  PETERSON IS COOPERATING FULLY WITH AUTHORITIES AND TOLD POLICE THE WHOOPING INCIDENT HAPPENED IN SPRING TEXAS IN MAY 2014.  THE STAR RUNNING BACK WILL NOT BE PLAYING IN MINNESOTA'S HOME OPENER AGAINST NEW ENGLAND.  THE VIKINGS ANNOUNCED PETERSON'S DEACTIVATION FOR THE PATRIOTS GAME SHORTLY AFTER THE NEWS OF THE INDICTMENT BROKE FRIDAY.
