Ray Rice let go by Ravens, then suspended by league

Ray Rice got a double whammy on Monday, as he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens, after TMZ Sports today released the full video of Rice's knockout of his then-fiancee, now-wife Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City hotel elevator in February.

The NFL then increased Rice's suspension from two games, of which Rice served the first game yesterday, to one of indefinite length. Both the Ravens and the league indicated they had not seen the full video until today. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had drawn criticism for the two-game suspension. The league cited the "new video evidence" for the increase in the suspension.

Rice had three seasons and $10 million remaining on his contract, which was non-guaranteed. As a result, the Ravens will not owe Rice any money, though he will count $4.75 million against the Ravens' cap this season, and $9.5 million in dead money next season.
