Josh Brent Suspended for 10 games, will appeal decision

Defensive tackle Josh Brent has been suspended by the National Football League for 10 games for his part in the drunk-driving accident that killed his friend and fellow Cowboys teammate, Jerry Brown.

Brent can be reinstated conditionally after the suspension, as long as he steers clear of all legal and alcohol-related issues.

Saying he was hoping for a fairer ruling, Brent's agent, Peter Schaffer, plans on appealing the decision.

Brent cannot visit the team facilities or participate in team activities until Week 7 of the season. He may practice with the team in Week 9. The Cowboys don't have a game in Week 11, so the earliest Brent can play is November 23rd, against the New York Giants.
