Mavs’ Chandler Parsons doesn’t make USMNT cut

New Dallas Maverick forward Chandler Parsons was one of four players cut by Team USA in its final roster shaping early Friday morning.

The team was trimmed to its final 12-man lineup before the FIBA World Cup tournament, which starts Saturday, August 30th in Spain.

Also cut by coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff were Gordon Hayward of the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Atlanta Hawks guard Kyle Korver.

Making the team is Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, who guided the team to a 112-86 win over Puerto Rico in a final tuneup before the World Cup tournament at Madison Square Garden Friday night. Rose, who did not start against Puerto Rico, scored six points and dished four assists in 13 minutes. He was 2-of-3 from the field, including hitting a 3-pointer.

Rose, who did not practice or play for three days prior to Thursday's practice with the team, missed the better part of two seasons with the Chicago Bulls with knee injuries.

During the World Cup, Team USA will have to play its five group-play games in six days, Aug. 30-Sept. 4.
