Rangers losing streak hits four in 6-0 loss to Indians

The Rangers' offense managed just two hits and three walks against the Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez and reliever Vinnie Pestano and lost to the Tribe, 6-0, for their fourth loss in a row Sunday afternoon.

The Rangers are now 2-8 since the All-Star break, and have dropped to six games behind the A's in the AL West, and trail three teams in the Wild Card standings.

Rangers skipper Ron Washington held a 40-minute, closed-door, post-game meeting with the team, details of which were not revealed.

Rangers starter Alexi Ogando held the Indians scoreless for four innings, but Cleveland broke through with two outs in the fifth. Ogando walked Michael Bourn and gave up consecutive singles to Nick Swisher and Jason Kipnis. Robbie Ross then came in and got the Rangers out of the inning by striking out Asdrubal Cabrera.

However, Ross got into an immediate jam in the sixth, allowing consecutive singles to star the inning. With two outs, Ross had a chance to get out of the inning against Yan Gomes, but Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre collided after Beltre made a catch of a foul ball, and dropped it. Gomes stayed at the plate and ended up grounding a single through the middle to bring home a run. Michael Bourn followed with a double to left-center to bring home two more runs.

The Rangers open a four-game homestand with three games against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and a make-up game with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Newly acquired starter Matt Garza will take the mound for the Rangers opposite Jered Weaver for the Angels. First pitch is set for 6:05 on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN.
