So far the Mavericks can't find a center to take their money. Dallas missing out last week on the biggest free agent, Dwight Howard. Wednesday it's more likely the Mavs passed on Andrew Bynum. The big man did not play at all last season because of knee issues. Bynum had lunch with the Mavs who also checked out his knees. They apparently did not want to match the two year, 24 million dollar offer the Cavaliers had made to Bynum, so he's signing in Cleveland. Reportedly only 6 million of those dollars are guaranteed in the first year and season two is a team option.
So now the Mavericks turn their sights towards Samuel Dalembert. The numbers for the 32-year-old center probably won't excite many http://www.nba.com/playerfile/samuel_dalembert/career_stats.html. Dalembert has managed to average double digit points only twice in his career. At least the Mavs aren't locked into a contract with Tyson Chandler. All he did was help them win a title two years ago and win an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award since leaving.
