The Stars selecting nine players in Sunday's NHL draft. While most of them are long-term projects, Dallas G-M Jim Nill hopes their top pick can make an immediate impact.
After several teams pass, the Stars pounce on Russian winger Valeri Nichushkin with the 10th overall pick in the draft. The 18-year-old Nichushkin is believed to be an NHL-ready prospect, but some teams are concerned about his contractual status in the KHL in Russia. The Stars say they have assurances that he is not bound to any team in the motherland. Nichushkin is expected in Frisco Wednesday for a development camp and they hope he'll stay in the US all summer.
