The Rangers getting exactly what they need Thursday in winning another series. Texas a 2-0 shutout of the Yankees thanks to a dominating performance from Derek Holland. The lefty throws a two-hit complete game, the first Texas starter to go the distance in nearly a year. It also provides much needed relief for the bullpen as the previous three Ranger starters had not finished the 6th inning.
Holland also threatens a club record as he throws just 92 pitches, the second-fewest in a complete game in team history. The offense has just enough support with a sac fly from Ian Kinsler and a solo home run by Jurickson Profar.
The A's were off Thursday, so the Rangers have a half game lead in the AL West. They open a 9 game homestand tonight at 7:05 against the Reds.
