RANGERS OFFENSE STALLS IN 2-1 LOSS TO DETROIT

The Texas Rangers lost to the Detroit Tigers, 2-1, last night at Rangers Ballpark. The Rangers batters did not produce when it counted, as they went 0-8 with runners in scoring position.

Tigers starter Rick Porcello (5-2) got the win, allowing just five hits and one earned run in 5.2 innings of work. Jose Valverde pitched the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the year.

Nick Tepesch took the loss for the Rangers, giving up both Tigers runs on six hits in five innings of work. Tepesch also walked three and struck out one. Catcher Giovany Soto accounted for the only Rangers run with his second homer in as many nights.

Tonight, Justin Grimm (2-3, 4.28 ERA) will take the mound opposite the Tigers' Anibal Sanchez (4-3, 2.05 ERA). Game time is at 7:05 Central Time from Rangers Ballpark.
