The Dallas Stars formally introducing new General Manager Jim Nill at a press conference heard live yesterday on Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket. The 55-year-old Nill comes to Dallas with a winning pedigree, working the last 19 years in the Detroit Red Wings front office. Detroit going to the playoffs all 19 of those years, winning 4 Stanley Cups.
So the next question is the future of the head coach. Glen Gulutzan is 7 games over .500 in 2 seasons leading the Stars bench, but he has yet to taste the post season. Nill says he will not take swift action, but will meet with the staff and it could be a 2 week process. Nill does have a tie to Stars assistant coach Curt Fraser, hiring him as the head coach of the Red Wings AHL affiliate in 2008.
